Evangelos Sakkopoulos

Assistant Professor

Dr. Evangelos Sakkopoulos is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Informatics, University of Piraeus, Greece. He holds his Ph.D. from the Computer Engineering and Informatics Department, School of Engineering, University of Patras, Greece.

His research interests include personalized software engineering, mobile software, secure identities software, web services software, e-health, e-ID, mobile ID, strong web authentication, anonymous credentials, and e-learning. He has more than 80 publications in international journals and conferences in these areas in prestigious ACM, IEEE, Springer, Elsevier publications.

He has been a member of the Technology and SPOC specification subgroups as well as the EU Committee of Article 6 of Regulation (European Commission) 1683/95 laying down the uniform visa format (including also secure electronic Residence Permits for third-country nationals and electronic Passports standards across EU). He has been a technology representative at the European Union (EU) Mobile identification interoperability group (e-Mobidig).

Since 1997, he has worked, designed, developed and coordinated a number of R&D national and European projects (Horizon 2020, ICT, FP7, FP6).  He has a long background and extensive experience in .NET technologies, Microsoft server-based information systems, Android platform, Java platforms, IBM Lotus/Domino servers, Linux OS and data center solutions.

He is also participating actively in the ISO Working Group 18013-5 for the standardization of the mobile Driver’s License.
