Stavroula Sokoli
Senior Researcher
As a researcher and project leader, she has initiated and coordinated two EU-funded projects (~500K €), launching innovative software and processes related to audiovisual translation. Her work involved managing international teams of software engineers, designers, academics, and educational experts (~40 members), making sure that each member could collaborate effectively in a challenging multicultural environment. This experience led to an expanding network of experts and institutions, and since then, she has participated in several other national and international projects, leading the local team.
As an academic, she has extensive experience teaching in Higher Educational Institutions in Greece and Spain, both in audiovisual localization (mainly subtitling) and language education (Spanish). She has designed both face-to-face and online courses, creating original material, including video lectures.
She has more than 25 publications presented in conferences, frequently as an invited speaker.
Her Ph.D. was in Translation Studies, specializing in Audiovisual Translation by the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Spain, and her BA in English Language and Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Her goal is to keep learning and to contribute to building teams, with a strong belief that interdisciplinarity is key to innovation.
