Vasilis Delis
R&D Engineer, CTI - Diophantus
Vasilis Delis is the Deputy Head of the Educational Technology Sector at the Computer Technology Institute & Press – DIOPHANTUS.
Born in 1970, married with two children. He studied Computer Science in Greece (University of Patras) and attended postgraduate programs in Great Britain (Edinburgh University), Hong Kong (University of Science and Technology), and Greece (University of Patras). He has taught database courses at the University of Patras and the Hellenic Open University. His research interests include Data and Knowledge Bases, Geographic Information Systems, Large Scale Information Systems. He has extensive experience in the management of large IT projects.
During the last 15 years he has been coordinating a 15-member team of scientists and engineers at the Computer Technology Institute (GR), a) implementing large scale information systems for the Greek educational community, and b) conducting applied research mainly under the Erasmus+ Program (and earlier versions) of EU. He has coordinated the EU funded project “SKIFF – Skills for Future Farmers” which was voted as a national ‘best practice’. He was awarded the 3rd price at the 2nd European Best Learning Game Competition for the successful completion of the project “SIMSAFETY – Flight Simulator for Internet Safety”. During 2010-2012, he has consulted for the Greek Ministry of Education as the coordinator of the Action “Digital Management in Education”.
